When driving through South Fork last August, I noticed a fair amount of S.G. equipment, but no N.G. - it would be GREAT if the Ashbys could get involved with the N.G. part of the operation!
Unlike the D&S and the C&TS, the tracks from South Fork to Creede are within sight of the highway the entire distance. While this may be a benefit to foamers (who have been known to shoot train videos while steering with their knees*), how does it affect ridership when there is little to see from the train that you can't see from a car?

* HONEST!! My daughter and I were riding the Fillmore & Western a few years ago when we noticed a guy in an old Honda Civic driving along on a back road foaming the train. He was holding a video camera out the window with both hands and steering with his knees!
p.s. While in college in Colorado in the early 1960's, the following stanza somehow got imbedded in my psyche. For obvious reasons, I've changed the first line from Gilpin County to a more appropriate one ...

Does anyone know the source of the second line, which I believe dates from the l870's or -80's?
"There's corruption in Clear Creek County - corruption there, and greed -
But it's day all day in the daytime, and there is no night in Creede!"
