Your starting point should be the book "Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California, Volume I" by David Myrick. The current edition is published by University of Nevada press. Probably the closest place to Eureka to find a copy would be the Nevada Northern Museum gift shop in East Ely. Or the Nevada State Railroad Museum gift shop in Carson City. It is not an inexpensive book, so another option would be the local library.
The E&P engine in Las Vegas is not on display there, but owned by an individual who resides there and who occasionally exhibits and runs the engine at various events. He reads these posts and will probably speak for himself.
My guess is some other readers will have further info.
