As someone who has hand fired steam locos, I have to expand on the idea of getting soaking wet while adding water. Once you are soaking wet, you then have to climb into that hot cab and get thoroughly steamed, especially every time you open that firebox door!
On the good side, you get the admiration of all the kids that are watching you! Be sure to take time for them whenever possible. It's worth it.
