Re: A Little Oil left ... "Noah" Gas

April 09, 2005 09:39PM
Mike -
Indeed a fascinating graph, and one of the reasons I responded to that earlier post (which I can NOT find again - and I've re-visited EVERY "visited" link on my NGDF index) that it was "wishful thinking". I could SWEAR that it was in the "Better Steamer" thread. I cut it, pasted it into the response window, and then went back to double-check on the name of the poster. I must have gotten onto your post by mistake at that point, and responded to you instead of him.
Again, I am VERY sorry about that - I have been following your responses to the thread I started over two weeks ago*, and am in total agreement with nearly everything you say. (Except that I'd like to see the Arctic fields held in reserve as long as possible. Off-shore drilling has FAR less impact on the environment and, by easing pressure, has actually REDUCED tar seeps along California's beaches - something most "tree huggers" don't understand.)
I tend to favor the "collapse" line on your graph, especially in light of the idiot politician(s) in California pushing for a repeal of our state's gas tax so the bozos driving Hummers and Suburbans won't be pinched quite so bad when they fill up. Instead of encouraging conservation and the development of alternatives they are trying to do just the opposite, and it is VERY unlikely the present administrations in either California OR Washington will wake up until it is way, way to late! Without government incentives (and disincentives like higher gas taxes), it's unlikely the short-term-thinking profits-uber-alles market will respond to the coming "flood" before it's too late.
Maybe somebody should start a BioDiesel company called 'Noah Gas' ... no(ah) pun intended ... <img class=" />
