They did the same thing last year, however the crew was
very unhappy about it. Their primary concern was a very sharp S curve on the west leg. Gerald was the conductor and had to repeat his request to take the whole train over it twice to the disbelieving engine crew. The loop was also the site (again on the west leg S curve), of at least one derailment of 463.
I don't remember Kyle ever using it with the exception of specials. I believe it was GB who put it into near daily use, prior to that I'm pretty sure that the two engines simply swapped trains in Osier.
