Re: Salvadoran and Guatemalan scrap?

Trains Unlimited Tours had a tour in Jan 2002 on the El Salvador section. This was probably the last regular operation for charters and steam. During the 2001 TUT tour there were three consolidations 110 /112 seem to be the ones that I photographed. Also ten wheeler #8 was on display in Sonsonate the location of the other locos. Several more locos had been in storage there in 1998. In 2001 the they were gone.
The railroad had Consolidations #12 / #101 for charter in 2002. They had a fleet of GMD G'8 diesels. The cars were mostly steel frame and were in good shape the ones that were in service. Many were former IRCA cars and some still had Guatemala markings on them. They had been trapped in El Salvador when the Zacapa to Metapan line closed in the early 70s.
