The relocation added 3.88 miles to the line. It began at 146.94 and went to 154.16, which became 158.04. The mile post at the west end of the relocation has two markers on it, 4 miles apart numbers.
The new line was put in service 9-13-1962. The last train was 7 years later.
After that date the Durango- Chama engineers and crews got overpay for 11.28 miles over 100 miles or 8 hours, whichever was greatest. There may have been a record of accounting of billing from the railroad to owners of the dam for the 3.8 extra mileage collected over the few years, or the railroad was just forced to eat it, paid for in the "damages: incidental".
