The term "Judas Goat" was also used here in Australia at abattoirs. When called, the tame goat would lead the sheep from the holding pen up the race into the slaughterhouse. For the sheep it was a one way trip but the goat was diverted before the final destination to be fed and returned to the pen to repeat the job many times over.
