When I put new tires on my 0-4-0 Vulcan (#4103) in 1996 the bid from Standard steel was $1,200.00 per tire for 30" diameter drivers!Most of the steel prices doubled last year! Fortunatly I have a new set of tires for my second Vulcan (#4104) for some day when I get around to it.
I've been buying rail rather cheap as of late,I hope the new scrap prices don't ruin that!!!!!
