I thought it was Walschaerts. The hanger looks different from the PRR. I was looking at the Bowser K4s I have and thought that some of the parts for the K4 might be usable for a D&RGW K series mike.
I'll need to look through my Live Steam books to get some better ideas about Walschaerts.
I have an Enco drill/mill that I think I can make the correct type of side rods and frame. It might be the drill/mill is too large, but I'm going to try anyway.
When I was last in HOn3, Kemtron had lots of scratchbuilding parts. Now I can not find them.
According to my Model Railroader plans, the lead and trailing trucks on a K-27 were initially spoked but became solid (both 28"). Kadee makes 26" wheelsets for the tender. I was hoping to find some 40" or 44" Kemtron drivers but now I do not know where to look.
I've got no problem with working metal if I can find the driver castings but I'm still wondering about the insulation (Live Steam does not need insulated wheel sets < grin >
.
One interesting item I found is the MR plans and the folio in Narrow Gauge Pictorial XI says that the boiler is 5' 2" in diameter. Measuring the Westside K-27 HOn3 model from circa 1973 has the boiler as 6'0".
Oh well.
