You know that I will be heading here shortly for the Durango area to see the photo run they have planned on the 26th. Maybe I get a ear full or maybe not. Depends who you know and the way you go about asking. Around, kick or burn the darn bush that is the question. I would love to see the shining beauty returned to service and pull the first train to silverton as she as in the past, it would make the ol' silverton folk happy.
Also maybe I'll get to do what I have been threating to do and bring my great uncle Carl Jack to see he's favorite locomotive returned to service. I know JJ I have been saying that I would bring him for 3-4 years now but thats life and I'm really sorry.
There was the time if you do remember he came over I think for railfest 02 or 03 and Dennis Cole and I got him up into the 73 and when he sat in the engineers chair the look was something I'll remember and can never explain. Passion, pride, and "I remember" showed in his face. I think that I'll return to ABQ from Durango via Alamosa and just site a while with my hero. Tape recorder anyone for there's not many more that can tell about what we long to grasp. The men and stories behind the coal and iron, sounds like a good title!
