Maybe my observations are out-of-line living 1300 miles away but I think 463, even though less powerful, would have good use pulling shorter trains, acting as a helper, switching etc., as well as being excellent PR.
You are probably right about the drop pit but didn't the Antonito shops rebuild the 484 last winter. Carlos sent me two CDs that included 278 pictures of it's rebuild. Maybe some of the work had to be done in Chama although I would think that would be inconvient in the winter.
