The restoration of the tender was delayed because we had to fabricate a number of parts which were lost or destroyed from the years of service at Universal Studios. The tender now has a complete and fully operational brake system as well as replacement hatches and other hardware. It took us longer to finish because the locomotive itself was top priority and the tender became a more long term project.
I will talk to our curator about updating the news section of the page, he's been a tad busy as of late. When I remember to do it, I'll post updates about the goings on again.
Of the top of my head, Hal Wilmunder's Heisler is currently being restored to operation by 2 of our members, we estimate about 3 years of work to get it back into operational condition, this includes a brand new steel cab being built.
The Sacramento Brick porter is getting a 4 wheeled tender built from the parts of an ex Westside dump car.
Westside Caboose #5 has arrived on our property and is wrapped for winter, I am not sure when restoration work will begin on it.
The Westside Boxcar and Oahu Boxcar haven't been moved yet, but it could be any day now.
Westside Sand and Gravel Gondola #10 is currently disassembled and awaiting new lumber for restoration.
Our Caboose replica is currently in the shops to get some roof and body work done in addition to correcting some problems the replica had originally.
Thats about all I can remember for the time being.
You should come up one day if you get a chance and visit our museum, I am usually there on Saturdays and available to give you the tour.
