Bret. You are right in that it is worthy of consideration, and perhaps put up high on the list of projects, both to save a historic structure of our railroad, but also be able to serve as a more cost effective, educational/maintenance, rebuilding headquarters.
Located in town with proper voltage electrical, industrial water and fire protection, this building, which I believe served as the car house from at least 1911, until the roundhouse was removed, as the machine shop/locomotive, would serve wonderfully in that capacity.
This is a future project that needs to be considered when the bod goes into a goal setting session next month.
It should be saved.
