C class engines were pulling and operating flangers much later than 1920. Number 268 made its last flanger run in 1952 out of Gunnisona and number 318 made a flanger run to Ouray in 1953. Any C or K engine (or a T for that matter) could operate a flanger if the engine was equipped with the piping and extra hose connection (and most were).
