You would have to talk to the genius who bought C&S 56 as to why he destryed it. (no one knows who he was as far as I know) Anyway, he did nothing to move the car for sometime after the auction, so the auctioneer was in the process of giving the car to me, for possible movement to Como (another person was willing to pay to move the car to Como for display at the Como roundhouse), when the puchaser suddenly showed up and went after the car with a chainsaw. End of story for C&S 56. The only surviving parts that I know of are the retainer, which is now on D&RGW caboose 04990 in Boulder and a ticket clip that I picked out of the smoking rubble that once was C&S 56.
I guess that you can't save them all.
