I don't know if there is any connection with equipment you are asking about, but the NJ Musuem of Transportation, which operates the 3-foot gauge Pine Creek Railroad in Allaire State Park, monmouth county NJ, operates a 25-ton GE, built 1942, USA 7751. As far as I know this unit was used by the Army in Hawaii. I don't have details at hand on it's travels since then, but it has been in NJ for more than 20 years (perhaps more).
There are two US Navy flatcars in the museum's collection which reportedly were also used in Hawaii. One has been converted to an "open" excursion car, the other is used in work train service.
The Pine Creek operates a 3,200 foot loop of 3-foot gauge trackage in the park. See the link for more details.
