Re: Albion, ME

The project at Albion is hampered by the number of volunteers (2 or 3) who are getting older (in their 60s and 70s). The station & property belongs to the Albion Historical Society, and they and the most of the town don't have much interest in the project. They've had an uphill battle getting where they are today - most everybody originally (late 80s) wanted to tear the structure down and build a replica somewhere closer to town.
Don't get me wrong - the two or three guys at Albion are doing a great job with what they have.
I suppose if some sort of historic district could be formed, with the sawmill revitalized and the potato house rebuilt and track serving all them, that it might make a nice attraction to the town.
But first things first. The station isn't complete yet - they've got a lot of work yet to do on the upstairs (which used to be where the RR conductor and his family lived during the last days of the RR).
