Broads Spur was right at MP 343 a bit west of the Chama Yard Limit Sign. The spur went off to the east side of the main toward the highway. You can see a cut at the junction point. Broad had a lumber mill out there.
There was another short spur at Dalton. The "real" Dalton was at MP 339 (not at the crossing), right in front of old Lobo Lodge. There are very faint traces of the spur on the west side of the mainline. I assume they used it for log/lumber loading when they were cutting timber on the upper Chama River. They probably put the spur in there because of the difficulty in getting across Wolf Creek to Lobato and the steepness of the Chama River canyon.
There also was an un-named spur out at MP 303.75 where the track curves through a cut of loose rock. The DRGW appearently mined ballast here (its not very good ballast as it is all rounded glaciated rock). There is evidence of a couple spurs on the inside of the curve and the outside of the cut appears to be a man made hill of waste rock and dirt. Somewhere I've seen a pic of the eastbound San Juan rounding this curve and there is no "hill" behind the train. We have always called it "Steam Shovel Cut".
