There still are 5 F&CC/Montana Southern boxcars in Nevada City Montana along with a drop bottom Gondola. The boxcars were stripped of many metal parts during a WWII scrap drive, but for some reason the gondola escaped the scavengers.
The cars were abandoned by the Montana Southern after operations ceased and were later moved to Nevada City by Charlie Bovey. According to some stories, the F&CC boxcar at the Colorado Railroad Museum was part of this group, but at some point someone cut it loose from the rest of the cars and let it roll down the tracks until it fell on its side.
