That's one of the neat effects of a hard-working steam locomotive - blasting the leaves off of the trees as you pass beneath them. I have some very cherished memories of watching the locomotives on the Loop blasting the aspen leaves off of the branches, which would then flutter down onto the train and the tracks. At one point near the end of the season, it appeared that there was a gold carpet laid out across the tracks. Cool, effect, and very pretty.
