Truth be told I had forgotten what it was like to work outside and freeze all day. But in fairness, I was dressed pretty much for it and I also seem to remember that when I did work outside all day, at least there was a place to occasionally get in and warm up.
Of interest is that virtually everyone on the excursion was laughing about the situation the entire day. This must have been because A)Most of them were "dry-siders" and used to worse weather than this and
Most seemed to be die-hard railfans (even the wives!)
Now that it appears I won't have any deadly long-term effects from the experience I would repeat that it was a wonderful day that i would not trade.
However, should I find myself in similar circumstances I will build an open fire in the coach. Incidentally, cab rides were being offered all day. For some reason I kept getting passed over and never did ride in a cab. I work very hard at not behaving like a foamer, but oddly this is one of the rare occassions that my primary interest had to do with the available heat as opposed to the experience itself. Lon
