First question is do you want a digital? and the second is what do you want/have in the way of lenses. If you have Cannon go Cannon(unless you want the added expense of all new lenses) and vice versa. B&H Photo has some good pages on their web site, I put in the link. I'm a Nikon person and like those cameras, there also may be a rebate right now so be sure to check that out. I use the Nikon FM3A, manual focus, and manual exposure if you want it. My advice is always to get a good film camera, shoot professional slide film, and buy a good negative scanner. You will get better digital pictures, and have the hard copies. Minolta recently released a updated scanner for $270 that will give you better pictures then any digital will. The added advantage is that my way will cost less(no promises here) and still work if the battery in the camera dies.
Hope that this is some help,
Paul
