I believe the steel ribs were added as part of the D&RGW rebuild, but that's off the top of my head. Grandt has a pretty detailed history included in their kit. I'll find what I can and post it later.
One detail we discovered a year or so ago was the wood timbers added between the sills in the center of the car, apparently placed to reduce damage caused by vibration when the doors are freed. The timbers are there in about three or four versions, and almost every surviving car has them.
