The narrow gauge meets at Karl Hovanitz' Bitter Creek & Western in Arroyo Grande, CA are the best. Great railroad, block signaling, grades, yards, good barbque, & lots of steam! Follow the link to last years meet when Harry Haas had his K-28 #476 running. Scroll down to see the matching cars also. Also running in '03 was David Roher's Sandy River 0-4-4 and matching cars.
Under construction in our area is RGS #42 which should be running in a couple of years, and several C-16 class including #340.
The K-36's shown in England were commercially produced for awhile and I believe the plans and castings are still available from Live Steam Models UK. Not overly detailed, but certainly much less than 25K for raw castings.
