Here in town about 10 years ago, two live steamers decided they wanted something bigger for 7.5" gauge than 1.5" scale stuff but nothing too big like 2.5" scale.
Thay started from a K-36. Made it roughly 2" scale and removed a driver turning it into an outside frame 2-6-2.
Easiest locomotive I ever fired. There was nothing I ever did that could cause the fire to go bad except not putting coal in. It was a very free steaming loco and several of us who learned to fire on that loco could get the safety valves to pop going uphill on a 3% grade with a full load!
