During the 20s, several different C16s were used, with 271 being used the most. When the branch engine needed to service or repairs, it would run to Durango and another would be sent over to take its place. Have seen 210 used a few times. 271 was equipped with a plow pilot. During the 30s, number 318 was most often used. Mudhens were used during stock shipping season and a few times on flanger runs. Saw an account of a mudhen derailing on the branch.
