I did make a special point to visit the GLR one last time this August. We should never take any of these operations for granted. Not only do they need our support, but even with it, steam trains can be fleeting. This was proven by the GLR situation.
We are now loosing the McCloud Ry steam program.
I'm glad I took the oppurtunity to operate the locomotives there when give the chance.
Well, I have to go now. We have a fire in the boiler of SP 4449 and we have only 2 more days of preparations before we take her to Montana for 2 weeks of steam trips in the Rockies.
Remember, take these chances when you have them. You never know when yours last trip on a steam engine may be just that - your last trip.
