I'm usually to be found laying track at Quainton Road or on the footplate there. It's convenient for home (though the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway is at the other end of town) and I enjoy "hard labour". I have been fortunate to fire during "Steam on the Met" so I've experienced mainline footplate duties. I also do minder duties for the blue thing - I could tell a few stories about the GCR and that engine.... - it is an interesting way of finding out what really happens on other lines.
