That shows you why 470's were preferred on passenger runs. 470's are lighter, have smaller pistons, creating less piston thrust, which causes hunting. The 470's have a better trailing truck design which anchors the rear of the engine much better. The trailing truck axle is under the engineer's seat on a 470 as opposed to under the front wall of the cab on 480, which further reduces the "tail wagging" effect. Lastly, a 470 carries a greater percentage of weight on the pilot truck.
