The Sumpter Valley Ry. used flat cars for logs as far as what went over the mainline. Baker White Pine and WH Eccles who both had logging railroads directly to their mills at White Pine and Austin respectively used some disconnect trucks along the lines of what you are describing. Oregon Lumber Co. which also had it own track directly to the Bates mill had some log cars that were more of a skeleton type.
