Your version makes a lot more sense. Since 492 and 493 were both in Chama on September 15, they would have made the Cumbres turn and MOW work, and 487 would have run Durango-Chama that day. I think 487 working the Cumbres turn on September 15 is the first error I have encountered in Ernie's transfer of information from the handwritten Chama Engine Dispatch Log to his spreadsheet. Interesting action I missed by being involved in the startup of Mobil Oil's LNG plant in Coyanosa, Texas that summer. UGH. The summer of 1966 was way better and much closer to the narrow gauge by working at Climax Molybdenum in Colorado.
