Brian,
The engine house is named for Fred and Sharron Morse. Fred was a 28 year member of the WW&F Railway Museum who had over 20,000 hours of volunteer time. He did everything from clearing trees from the original grade to working on the track crew and train crew. He was the backbone of volunteers, greeting new members and teaching them how to perform certain jobs. He was the best ambassador the WW&F ever had, traveling to other railroads such as the SR&RL and EBT on WW&F business. He was the first person who greeted me on my first visit and we were friends for 27 years, his knowledge and sense of humor were unmatched. Fred was everyone's friend - often helping them with whatever they were doing. Fred passed on November 18th, just a couple weeks shy of his 88th birthday. In the last 3 years he had more volunteer time on the engine house project than anyone else and contributed generously towards construction materials. Sharron passed 5 years ago and Fred spent more time with his railroad family afterward. He was the key member of the engine house crew that worked two or three days during the week and almost every Saturday. Fred was on hand when the engine house was dedicated on October 7th, 2023. He was a dear friend that we all miss. The photo shows Fred the day of the dedication.
