The Russell plow at my previous employer had a definite "tell" as to being on the track. Per design, the front truck is built solid, with no springs at all. Accordingly when on the track, it rode rough as a cob. Any time you felt the ride smooth out, it was time to pull the air.
Of course, seeing where you were going depended on the amount of snow piled on the plow roof.
