Hello, I'm new and I hope I haven't broken any rules. I didn't see any categories associated with specific topics so I just jumped in.
I'm a narrow gauge model railroader and I recently picked up four stock cars off of ebay. The description stated that they were scratch built Narrow gauge cars. Of course the photographs did not compare the cars to anything of known size.
When I first opened them up, I immediately though "crap I got taken." The cars appeared to be standard gauge cars with narrow gauge trucks added. But when I placed them on the layout and compared them to an narrow gauge stock car and standard a gauge box car, I wasn't so sure.
They are the same width as a narrow gauge stock car but are taller but not as tall as a standard box.
Now I'm wondering if there are prototypes that match these dimensions. Or, is this a standard stock car from a earlier era.
Did any early era standard gauge equipment get converted to narrow gauge?
The middle car is the car in question. Did anything like this ever run on a narrow gauge line in Colorado?
