Long ago, a C&TS employee once told me he felt he worked in a fishbowl. He specifically referred to the posts on the Internet that "discussed" the C&TS shop activities negatively, with posts easily surpassing 50 in number. In retrospect the theme of these posts relating to the C&TS shop, and to a much lesser degree some volunteer activities at Como, are almost all negative. A recent post on the NGDF follows this theme with many if not most contributions teeming with conjecture. It is as though a personal opinion matters most regardless of the facts, and the posts certainly do not take into account the feelings of the employees or volunteers. How can a NGDF poster living in another State know what the C&TS shop employees are doing any given day?
Do these types of posts, those that focus on criticism of the railroad or its employees indirectly and which I consider insensitive, cause harm to the reputation of employees of the railroad or even the railroad itself?
What does it say about the posters that base their contributions solely on conjecture? I think it is safe to say most contributors don't have facts at hand. Maybe its more fun to "add my 2-cents", or to satisfy an irresistible urge to state my personal opinion without taking into account they could be harming the reputations of employees, or insulting innocent people that are doing their jobs well.
And there is my 2-cents.
