Kevin-not at all! The RGS didn't have poor equipment at all, it was quite beautiful stuff (look at the 41, the 42 for that matter, etc, at least today). I was under the belief that the RGS ran down their equipment over the years and it was poorly maintained while they ran it. This is, again, just what I heard. There's so many rumors out there its hard to sort through them. The 42 looks beautiful on display now, instead of when it was sitting derelect. Being from California, I have been to Knotts many times and seen the 41. Last time I saw it, it was not running but it was outside the enginehouse (part of the track was removed for coaster construction) and she looked beautiful after shedding the amusement park paint. My planned narrow gauge steam in amusement parks DVD will have some Knotts footage on, as I am a huge fan of that operation. The people working there are extremely nice. I didn't get a photo in 2002, not do I know where my earlier photos are. However, attatched is the link to a photo taken by Jeff Mast for his excellent Theme Parks Online site that he let us use in our 2nd edition. This shows the #41 since its restoration back to RGS paint.
