More pressing yes. But significantly more difficult. The existing rail lines between Ft Collins and Pueblo are already crowded. The service required would have to be high speed to get people out of their cars. Suburban sprawl and Not In My Backyard folks ( the computer seems to think the abbreviation is a dirty word) offer challenges I wont even go into. Hugh Fowler who authored the legislation in the Colorado senate that resulted in the C&TS becoming a reality. He tried to get the necessary legislation passed to create Light Rail but was unable to get it out of committee. The late 60s and early 70s would clearly been the time to start a front range service.
I fully support getting something done on the front range but also support passenger service from Denver to Steamboat and Craig.
