I hope this works out for the preservation of Como. That depends on a continuing good relationship between the South Park Rail Society and its current president. In the long term, the best situation might be 1) for the Depot ownership and operation to pass to a for-profit subsidiary corporation of a non-profit involved at Como or 2) the ownership of the Depot to pass to such a non-profit and it then lease it out to an operator.
I just looked up the
South Park Rail Society and the
Denver South Park & Pacific Historical Society on the
Candid/GuideStar website. This is a non-profit that has the purpose of providing a central location for donors to find information about non-profits. This includes making available the IRS 990-N reports in a public forum and also presenting additional information supplied by the non-profits. The pages for both of these societies is very basic information without additional information supplied by the societies or linked 990 reports. I would suggest that each look at the GuideStar website and consider providing information such as their mission statement, etc.
