I know an engineer who was working the rear engine out of Chama going up the hill who once just grabbed a hand full of waste, stepped off the engine and headed for the trees. The fireman couldn't believe his eyes. All the fireman could do is go to the other side of the cab and whistle the lead engine down and wait. Pretty soon here the engineer came walking up the tracks and along side the caboose.
