Got a tour of the SG NdeM shops there in 1963. Saw a fresh 2-8-2 do some break-in running, and 4-8-4 3046 in the shop supposedly the last 4-8-4 to get a full reworking. We were supposed to have steam on our train the next day, but alas diesels. Did see NG out of Merida, plus the SG to Progresso with an ancient 4-4-0! Too bad I didn't have a good camera and was older at the time. Still a good trip. 2 weeks by rail in Mexico by rail mostly, and some good steam, like the NG in San Lazaro(Mexico City). Rode from Pueblo to Mexico City on the NG (engine 262), and this line was 100% steam.
Sorry no info on the NG you mentioned.
