Thank You, Graham -
For the heads-up on this sale. My two-book shipment arrived this afternoon, nearly two weeks after I placed the order, and well worth the wait.
A preliminary exploration of Myrick's
Railroads of Arizona, Volume 6 revealed a bit of a surprise on page 17 — an oblique reference to yore's trooly and some additional notoriously negative ne'er-do-well associates on the NGDF
:'The United Verde Copper Company (UVC) declared a dividend aggregating $32,500 in November 1883, and the same reporter {then} remarked that,
"The ownership of such a property as I saw here would make the veriest Curmudgeon that ever lived crack his crusty visage with an unwonted grin".'
Now the challenge will be to resist the temptation to pour a glass of Founders'
Old Curmudgeon and to take to my armchair with the new books before feeding Bosco and Otis (and myself) and then taking the pups for their evening walk. Curmudgeonliness does have its limits, you know — especially when it comes to taking care of a man's best friends.
