When I was spending a lot of time in Chama in RGRPC days, I used to stay at the Elk Horn where I would get a cabin with a kitchen, and go shopping at the Chama Market. Back then there were places to eat dinner, but it was nice have the option of cooking "at home". Now, the cabins with a kitchen may be more a necessity than a luxury....assuming they are still there. Dinner at Subway is not appealing. The lack of meals must be hurting the motel business in Chama. But putting this in context, the lack of help is not limited to Chama, we have help wanted signs in virtually every business in my SF Bay Area community, and a lot of the restaurants we patronized in years past have disappearred, especially the more modest ones where you could get a reasonably cheap meal. And the pandemic accelerated that change.
