I wonder if the terminology "hand holds" and "grab irons" have regional origins.

Think of getting water from a "faucet," a "spigot," or a "tap" and then carrying it in a "bucket" or a "pail."

I recall years ago (decades ago) when I was in Junior High School (now called middle school) seeing a presentation about language/word usage and that someone experienced in such matters can often identify were someone is from geographically by their choice of words.
