It is the goal of the RR to have the upstairs of the dining hall open. That is to provide toilets and a place to sit down and eat. The downstairs (kitchen) needs a bunch of major work still. There will be no food prep up at Osier for quite a while, maybe near end of the season. I don't know what is required to have the building legal for just sitting down and eating (food prepared probably in Antonito). In the last commission meeting, we learned that the RFP for the food service contract resulted in zero eligible people to do the job. So, the RR is bringing that part in house. The nature of the meals for this year was not mentioned in the meeting. I am GUESSING it will be like last year, sack lunches brought up from Antonito. The reason for the late season open is to have the upstairs ready to give people a nice place to sit down and eat. We will know more on June 11, if that open date sticks.
Work upstairs involved major cleaning. Removing the dry wall and insulation. As of the last meeting, new insulation and dry wall was installed. The dry wall is just waiting for paint. When ServPro can get into Osier, work will resume.
