See [
ngdiscussion.net] for a detailed list of D&RGW operations over Cumbres in 1968, including links to several long threads where numerous photos by Ernie Robar
t have been posted along with some of his comments regarding same. There are also links on that page to John West's photos of
'The Mad Dash' and my own of the last revenue freights, but it has not yet been updated with links to Olaf's recent posts.* SFAIK, nearly all of Ernie's D&RGW photos from the early and mid-1960s have been scanned and are available on The Friends' site at [
ngtrainpics.photoshelter.com].
Also HIGHLY recommended is the small but excellent book
'Rio Grande Narrow Gauge - The Final Years, Alamosa to Chama' by Joseph P. Hereford, Jr. and Ernest W. Robart © 2001 R. Robb, Union City, Ca. The book is filled with beautiful B&W photos of the last few years of D&RGW operations, and also contains several detailed maps and a good summary of the history of the line over Cumbres Pass. SFAIK, it is still available from The Friends and from the C&TS bookstore.
