The C&W was founded in 1899 and consisted of three divisions. North division was to the iron mines at Sunrise, WY, middle division was at the steel mill in Pueblo, and southern division was from Chimayosis (Jansen) west to the coal mines at Tercio, Weston, etc. Several branches came and went on the southern division as different mines produced or ceased to do so, and an impressive track realignment was afforded when Trinidad Lake was built way later in the diesel era.
