In theory a lot of the railroadiana we collect is stolen from the railroad. That's why the railroad marked their property. Your request to return what you perceive as stolen property is a slippery slope and your feelings are based on your assumptions of what you think is the headlight from number 400. I am pretty sure whoever made that headlight made more than one or that would be a pretty shitty business model if you were looking to turn a profit.
I don't agree that anyone should be stealing or stripping parts from locomotives but stuff that happened who knows how many years ago is a forgone conclusion. Should I try and return my D&RGRR switch keys from the 1880's because some employee stole them and I bought them 140 years later? Where do we draw the line in your request to return stolen property?
We don't know if someone was given 400's headlight and we don't know if the employee was given the switch keys. So what are we supposed to do here?
But I do agree with you on one point, you should get back to narrow gauge topics. I understand and appreciate you are passionate about that locomotive, but her gauge is just too fat for our liking :-)
