In the Baldwin spec sheet, the pilot truck wheels are 26". The tender truck wheels, as built, are also 26"
Reno's tender, certainly since her first movie days, has notably small wheels- as copied on countless h0 models from most manufacturers. Now, I've never had the fortune to see one of these locomotives in the metal, but I've read at a lot of books. It often appears that the top of the tender tank followed the line of the cill of the cab side windows or lover side panel top-moulding, which gives very pleasing lines. On the V&T .com linked page, the as-built illustration, along with all the others, shows a locomotive where the tender wheels appear to be 2 or 3 inches smaller than the pilot wheels.
Is there a story to this? Or am I just looking from too far away?
