I forgot to mention, but even if the class number, drawing number, specifications and erecting drawing are the same, there could still be minor differences in the actual locomotives. Baldwin created a card drawing list for each locomotive order and different card drawings could be used for the parts on locomotives of the same class & drawing number. The Quincy locomotive is the only one that I know has had the card list survive. The card lists are in the Pennsylvania State Archives along with the majority of the surviving pre 1940 card drawings, spring drawings, pattern drawings and forging drawings. The PA State Archives also has most of the post 1940 drawings. Card lists for 1871 to early 1873 and around 1876 to 1877 are located at DeGolyer. Card lists for 1910 to 1912 and 1914 to the end are at the PA State Archives. The rest are missing.
